Malbun is a small ski resort village in the municipality of Triesenberg, in Liechtenstein. It is special because it is in an exclave. This means it is a part of Liechtenstein that is separated from the main land by other countries.

The village is famous for its snowy mountains. It is a favorite place for people who love skiing and snowboarding. Visitors come from many places to enjoy winter sports and the peaceful mountain views.

Because of its high altitude and good snow conditions, Malbun is an important place for winter activities. It brings together people who enjoy the cold and sliding down the slopes.

Geography

Malbun is the only place in Liechtenstein where people can go skiing. It is high up in the Alps at 1,600 metres, or about 5,249 feet, above sea level. From Malbun, you can travel to Steg and Vaduz. It is very close—less than two kilometres—to the Austrian border. Long ago, in 1968, some Swiss artillery shells landed there by mistake, but only a few chairs outside were damaged.

Bergbahnen Malbun

Bergbahnen Malbun is the main ski area in the village of Malbun. It has three chair lifts: two on the west side and one on the east side. From the top of the eastern lift, you can see the alpine ridges of Switzerland and Austria.

At the bottom of the slopes, there are two special areas for children. Malbi Park is a free learning area for kids, with a small tow-bar and a magic carpet. The other area is where Malbun’s ski school teaches beginners, and it is a short walk from the main ski area.
