Malta at the Olympics

Malta has taken part in the Olympic Games many times. They have joined 18 Summer Olympic Games and 4 Winter Olympic Games, but have not yet won a medal.

Even though no athlete from Malta has won a medal, some have come close. For example, a shooter named William Chetcuti almost won in the Double Trap event in 2004, 2008, and 2012.

Another important moment for Malta was when Elise Pellegrin became the first person from Malta to compete in the Winter Olympics. This happened during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The group that helps Malta with the Olympics, called the Maltese Olympic Committee, was created in 1928 and was officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1936.
