Marshall Wayne

Marshall Wayne was an American diver. He competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics.
He was born on May 25, 1912, and died on June 16, 1999.
Wayne’s time in the Olympics showed his diving skills to the world. He became a well-known name in the sport. His hard work helped shape the story of Olympic diving.
1936 Summer Olympics
In the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Marshall Wayne won a gold medal in the 10 meter platform diving competition and a silver medal in the 3 meter springboard event. After this, he performed in shows with famous swimmers and divers. Later, he joined the Army Air Corp and served during the war.
Personal life
Marshall Wayne was born into a Vaudeville family that traveled along the east coast of the United States. He started performing when he was very young and learned tumbling from acrobats before he began diving. As a teenager at Miami High, he secretly practiced diving at the Venetian pool in Coral Gables, which started his diving career.
By the time he was 18, Marshall was diving and performing at the Biltmore Hotel on Miami Beach, entertaining guests. He won several AAU diving awards, including first place in the 1934 and 1936 AAU Championships. He also spent two years attending the University of Miami. Later, he was honored by being inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1982 and the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in 1993.
