New York Boulders

The New York Boulders are a professional baseball team based in Pomona, New York. The Boulders compete in the Frontier League as a member of the East Division in the Atlantic Conference. The team plays its home games at Clover Stadium, a stadium they share with the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

Founded in 2011 by the Rockland Professional Baseball, LLC, the Boulders are one of the original teams that competed in the Can-Am League before its 2015 expansion, along with the New Jersey Jackals, Québec Capitales and Trois-Rivières Aigles.

The "Boulders" name refers to Rockland County's many large rocks in its landscape. The team's primary color, blue, remembers the former Brooklyn Dodgers (now Los Angeles Dodgers), which used Bear Mountain State Park for spring training during World War II. The red color honors the nearby Rockland County Fire Training Center. Boulder Bird is the official team mascot and "Disco" Seth Cantor is the team's play-by-play announcer.

History

The New York Boulders played their first official game on May 26, 2011. They won 11-5 against the Newark Bears.

In July 2011, Joe Hage hit the first grand slam in team history to win 7-4 against the Québec Capitales in Quebec City, Canada.

In September 2011, the Boulders signed former New York Mets player Howard Johnson to play two games with his son, Glen, against the Newark Bears.

In August 2013, pitcher Charlie Law threw a no-hitter against the New Jersey Jackals. In 2014, the team made the playoffs for the first time and won their first championship.

In August 2023, the Boulders achieved their first triple play in franchise history against the Ottawa Titans.

Clover Stadium

The New York Boulders play their home games at Clover Stadium. The stadium has seats for many fans, and special areas for viewing. There is a playground for kids and special seating for people who have trouble hearing. Fans can also watch games from an indoor batting cage.

Season-by-season records

In 2020, the Boulders played in the All-American Baseball Challenge because of the COVID-19 pandemic. They played with the Jackals and Miners, and three special teams made just for this event. Players joined from different baseball levels, like independent teams, minor leagues, and college teams. That season, the team used its old name, Rockland Boulders.
