OnStage Playhouse is a non-profit community theatre at 291 3rd Ave. in Chula Vista, California. It is the only live theatre in the South Bay part of San Diego County. It serves the cities of Chula Vista, National City, Imperial Beach, and San Ysidro.
Each season, from July to June, the playhouse performs six plays or musicals. The theatre is small and fits sixty people. All the people who help with the shows, like acting or working behind the scenes, are volunteers.
OnStage Playhouse is part of important groups. These groups are the American Association of Community Theatre, the San Diego Association of Community Theatres, and the San Diego Performing Arts League.
History
OnStage Playhouse began in 1983, but it was in a different place than it is today.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in California, the theatre livestreamed its shows so families could watch from home.
