Pasco–Hernando State College

Pasco–Hernando State College (PHSC) is a public college in Florida. It has campuses in Pasco and Hernando counties. The college started in 1967 and opened for students in 1972. It was created by the Florida Legislature and is part of the Florida College System.
PHSC also has campuses in Brooksville, Dade City, New Port Richey, Spring Hill, and Wesley Chapel. In 2014, the school changed its name from Pasco-Hernando Community College to Pasco–Hernando State College.
The college offers many programs and courses to help students learn new skills and get ready for future careers.
History
Pasco–Hernando State College started in 1967 in New Port Richey, Florida by the Florida Legislature. It opened in fall of 1972. The college became part of the Florida College System. It had campuses in Brooksville, Dade City, and Spring Hill.
In 2014, the college changed its name to Pasco–Hernando State College. That year, it started offering some university-level programs. A new campus opened in Wesley Chapel, called the Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch. This was made possible by a donation from the Porter family. Later, the college opened an Institute for Nursing and Allied Health Advancement and a Workforce Development Center.
Campuses
Pasco–Hernando State College has seven locations in Pasco County and Hernando, County, Florida. These include:

- North Campus – Brooksville
- Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch – Wesley Chapel
- Spring Hill Campus – Spring Hill
- West Campus and District Office – New Port Richey
- Instructional Performing Arts Center – Wesley Chapel
- Workforce Development Center at Gowers Corner – Spring Hill
Academics
Pasco–Hernando State College offers many different degree programs, including Bachelor’s degrees, Associate degrees, and certificates. High school students can also take classes there. Popular fields of study include Liberal Arts, Health Services, and Nursing.
The college is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to give Associate and Bachelor’s degrees.
Athletics
Pasco–Hernando State College (PHSC) has a team called the Bobcats. They play in seven sports and are part of two groups: the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA). The team colors are black and gold.
The Bobcats have sports for both men and women. Men's sports are baseball, basketball, and cross country. Women's sports are cross country, flag football, soccer, softball, and volleyball.
