Peter Shalulile

Peter Shalulile (born 23 October 1993) is a Namibian professional footballer. He plays as a striker for the South African Premiership club Mamelodi Sundowns. Peter is also the captain of the Namibia national team. He is known for being one of the best strikers to ever play in the top division of South African football.

Club career

Peter grew up playing for Tura Magic FC in Namibia. He helped the team move up to a better league in the 2011–2012 season. He worked his way up from the under-20 team to the main Namibia National Soccer Team and scored important goals to help them win their first big trophy, the COSAFA Cup, in 2015.

After doing well in the COSAFA Cup in 2015, Peter joined Highlands Park. He helped them move up to a better league by scoring two key goals in a big match in June 2016.

In the middle of the 2019–20 season, people thought Peter might join one of South Africa's top teams because of his great scoring. He ended the season sharing the top goalscorer title with another player.

Peter then signed with Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of that season. He scored 4 goals in his first 7 games. On 22 April 2023, Peter scored his 100th goal in the league, joining a group of famous top scorers.

Peter Shalulile has scored sixteen goals for the Namibia national team. His last goal was in a match against Burundi on 24 March 2025 for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

He was part of the Namibian under-19 team that won the Metropolitan Under-19 Premier Cup in South Africa in 2011.

Honours

Peter Shalulile has won many awards with his team, Mamelodi Sundowns. He helped the team win the South African Premiership for several years, including 2020-2021, 2021-2022, 2022-2023, and 2023-2024. The team also won the Nedbank Cup in 2022 and the MTN 8 in 2021.

Peter also received individual honors. He was named PSL Footballer of the Year for 2020-21 and won the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot for three seasons: 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23. He was also chosen as PSL Footballer of the Season for 2021-22, PSL Players' Player of the Season the same year, and was the CAF Champions League Top Goalscorer for the 2022–23 season. He is now the PSL All Time Leading Goal Scorer with 130 goals.
