Preacher
Adapted from Wikipedia · Adventurer experience
A preacher is a person who gives sermons or homilies about religious topics to a group of people. Preachers help share important ideas with others, often in places like churches, temples, or mosques.
Sometimes, preachers share their messages in other ways, such as speaking on the street. Not all preachers only talk about religion. Some also speak about values and ideas that help people live well and treat each other kindly.
Preachers are important in many communities. They offer support and guidance, helping people feel connected. Their messages can inspire kindness and positive change in the world.
History
Preachers are found in many cultures and religions. For example, a Christian minister on a Sunday morning or an Islamic imam are both types of preachers. In Islam, a general preacher is called a dā‘ī, and one who gives sermons on Friday afternoons is called a khatib.
The sermon or homily has been a key part of Christian services since early times and is still important today in both Roman Catholicism and Protestantism. Lay preachers sometimes help in these traditions, but usually, preaching is done by clergy. The Catholic Church has many ministers who continue the preaching of the original apostles. The Dominican Order, known as the Order of Preachers, was created to preach to people in southern France many years ago. The Franciscans are another important preaching group. In the past, travelling preachers were common in medieval Catholicism.
Today, most sermons in the United States last less than 40 minutes, with some leaders suggesting even shorter times. Historically, sermons could be much longer, sometimes lasting two or three hours. In many U.S. churches, the word "preacher" is used the same way as "pastor" or "minister."

The word “Preacher” can also mean the writer of the Book of Ecclesiastes. In the Hebrew language, this writer is called Qoheleth. Some people think this preacher might have been Solomon, but many are still unsure who really wrote it.
