Premio Presidente della Repubblica (prize)

The Premio Presidente della Repubblica is a special award from Italy. It was started by Luigi Einaudi, a former president and teacher. Since 1949, this award has been given out regularly by three important groups: the Accademia dei Lincei, the Accademia di San Luca, and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. History

The Premio Presidente della Repubblica award began on October 11, 1948, by Luigi Einaudi. He sent a letter to the president of the Lincei National Academy to keep the tradition of royal awards alive. The prize was first given to people who studied science, math, and history.

That same year, Einaudi also started a national prize for artists and architects. The prize is presented by the current President of Italy during a special ceremony. Some winners have also received other famous awards like the Nobel Prize, the Wolf Prize, and the Academy Award.
