Ryan Dahl

Ryan Dahl is an American software engineer. He was born in 1981. He created Node.js, a special tool for JavaScript that made it easier for people to build websites and programs.

In addition to Node.js, Dahl also made something called Deno. Deno is another tool for TypeScript and JavaScript. It was made to be safer and newer for running code. Both of his tools are used a lot by people who write computer programs.

Biography

Ryan Dahl grew up in San Diego, California. When he was six, his mother gave him an Apple IIc, which started his love for technology. He studied mathematics at UC San Diego and later went to the University of Rochester for grad school, where he studied algebraic topology.

After leaving grad school, Dahl traveled to South America and began creating web applications using Ruby. On May 27, 2009, he introduced his project called Node.js. After working on it for three years, he stepped back in January 2012 to focus on other projects while still advising from a distance.

In 2018, Dahl announced Deno, a new tool for running JavaScript and TypeScript code.
