System software
Adapted from Wikipedia ยท Adventurer experience
System software is a special kind of software that helps other programs run on a computer. It includes important parts like the kernel and device drivers of an operating system. These pieces work behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly.
Programs that people use every day, like writing documents, playing video games, or listening to music, are called application or utility software. They help users do tasks without needing to know how the computer works.
System software also includes tools like compilers and utility programs that help manage the computer's hardware and software. Many computers come with both system software and application software already installed, but only system software is needed for the computer to work. Some utility programs are part of system software because if they were removed, other programs might stop working.
