Tefé River

The Tefé River is a big river that flows into the Amazon River. It is in the state of Amazonas in northwestern Brazil. In the past, it was also called the Teffé River.

The Tefé River runs through a special area called the Juruá-Purus moist forests. It helps create a big forest area called the Tefé National Forest, which began in 1989. Just before it joins the Amazon River, the Tefé River makes a large lake called Lake Tefé. The town of Tefé is built right next to this lake.

The Tefé River is known as a blackwater river, which means its water looks dark because it carries a lot of organic material from the forest.
