History
Historical landmarks
The Valley does not have many old buildings. This is because Anguilla’s government moved to St. Kitts in 1825. But there is one special old house, Wallblake House. It was built in 1787 and is still standing today. It is now used by a nearby church.
You can also see the ruins of the Old Court House on Crocus Hill, the highest point on the island. Only a few broken walls from old jail cells are left. At the western edge of The Valley, Wallblake House is an old plantation home owned by the Catholic Church. Next to it is St. Gerard’s Catholic Church. This church has a unique design made from pebbles, stones, cement, wood, and tile.
