The Tirso (Sardinian: Tirsu, Latin Thyrsus) is an important river on the island of Sardinia in Italy. It is about 152 kilometers, or 94 miles, long. The river starts on a flat area called the plateau of Buddusò, near a place called Punta Pianedda, at a height of 985 meters above sea level.

The Tirso flows from east to west across the island. It passes through a large lake named Lake Omodeo. Finally, the river ends where it meets the sea at the Gulf of Oristano. This river is very important for life and nature on Sardinia.
