Venterskroon

A scenic gravel road passing through the town of Venterskroon in South Africa's North West province.

Venterskroon is a town in Tlokwe Local Municipality in the North West province of South Africa. It is an old town where people used to mine for minerals. The town sits in a pretty valley near Dome Mountain.

The town has a place called the Vredefort Dome Information Centre. The Vredefort Dome is very special because it shows where a huge space rock hit Earth long ago. It is the biggest and oldest place like this in the world. Because it is so important, UNESCO chose it as a World Heritage Site.

People have found very old pictures drawn on rocks near Venterskroon. These pictures, called petroglyphs, show animals like hippos and rhinos. They were made by the first people who lived in the area.
