Vision (spirituality)
Adapted from Wikipedia ยท Adventurer experience
A vision is something seen in a dream, trance, or religious ecstasy. It is often a special, supernatural appearance that brings a message. Visions are usually clearer than regular dreams and are linked to spiritual traditions. They help people understand more about life and the world. Visions are also sometimes connected to prophecy, where people share important messages.
Categories
Evelyn Underhill talks about three kinds of visions.
The first kind is called Intellectual Visions. These are special thoughts that come to your mind. They help you understand something important, even though you can't see or hear it.
The second kind is Imaginary. In this type, you don't actually see or hear anything, but it feels like you do. It's like picturing something in your mind very clearly.
The third kind is Corporeal. This is when something unusual appears right in front of your eyes, like seeing a real person or object that seems to come from somewhere beyond normal sight.
Examples
Visions are special sights that happen in dreams, trances, or strong spiritual feelings. They often feel very clear and are important in many spiritual traditions.
Some famous visions include:
- The visions of Jeremiah from the Book of Jeremiah, where he saw an almond tree.
- The Vision of Isaiah from the Book of Isaiah, which talked about big events in history.
- Paul the Apostle saw a bright light on the road to Damascus and felt a strong spiritual presence.
- Constantine's vision of a special sign before a big battle.
- Joseph Smith had a powerful vision in 1820 that helped shape his beliefs.
These visions have been important to many people and have helped shape history and spiritual ideas.
