Wrestling at the 2004 Summer Olympics

Wrestling at the 2004 Summer Olympics happened in the Ano Liosia Olympic Hall. The sport had two types: Freestyle and Greco-Roman. These types were split into different weight groups. Only men competed in both types, but women could only compete in Freestyle. This was the first time women’s wrestling was in the Olympic Games. In all, 18 gold medals were given out for wrestling.

Qualification

In the 2004 Summer Olympics, athletes had to earn their spots through various qualifying events. These events were held before the Olympics to decide who could compete. Each country could send a limited number of wrestlers to each weight class. This made sure that many different nations could participate.
