Xenopeltis intermedius
Xenopeltis intermedius is a harmless sunbeam snake species that lives in Vietnam. This snake is special because it looks like a mix of two of its closest relatives, Xenopeltis unicolor and X. hainanensis. The name intermedius means “in the middle,” showing how this snake’s looks are right between the other two. Sunbeam snakes are known for their shiny, smooth skin that looks like it glows in the sunlight, making Xenopeltis intermedius an interesting creature to learn about.
