Yukon Liberal Party

The Yukon Liberal Party (French: Parti libéral du Yukon) is a political party in the territory of Yukon, Canada. It works to represent the people of Yukon at the territorial level.

Unlike some other parties, the Yukon Liberal Party is not officially connected to the federal Liberal Party of Canada. This means it operates independently, making its own choices and policies to best serve the needs of Yukon's residents.

History

The Yukon Liberal Party was a small party for many years. In 2000, it won the election and formed a government led by Premier Pat Duncan. But later, the government became weaker. Duncan called another election in 2002, hoping to get more support. However, the party lost most of its seats.

The party did not have power until the 2016 election. In that election, it won a majority, and Sandy Silver became Premier. After the 2021 election, the NDP agreed to support the Liberals. In the 2025 election, only one Liberal member tried to stay in office, and the party lost most of its seats again.
