Śródmieście, Warsaw is the central district of Warsaw, the capital city of Poland. It is often called Downtown in English. This area includes the Old Town, which is the historic core of the city. Because it is the heart of Warsaw, Śródmieście is very important for culture, business, and government. Many people visit here to see historic places, shop, or take part in events that happen in the city.
Geography
Śródmieście is the central district of Warsaw, Poland, covering about 15.57 km2 (6 sq mi). It features a mix of landscapes, with the Vistula River to the east and the historic Old Town at its center.
The district borders four other areas: Żoliborz to the north, Wola to the west, Ochota to the south-west, and Mokotów to the south, serving as a key part of Warsaw's busy city life.
Subdivisions
Śródmieście is divided into nine local areas, each with its own group of people helping to make decisions. This way of organizing started on 10 March 2016.
The district is also split into special zones known as the City Information System. This way of dividing the area began in 1996. The zones include:

- Old Town (Stare Miasto)
- Powiśle
- Solec
- South Downtown (Śródmieście Południowe)

Cityscape
Śródmieście, Warsaw's central district, is a vibrant heart filled with important places to explore. It includes the historic Warsaw Old Town, where you can see beautiful old buildings, and many other interesting spots like the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, the grand Presidential Palace, and the lovely Łazienki Park. There are also famous bridges such as the Gdańsk Bridge and Poniatowski Bridge that connect different parts of the city. Busy squares and streets like Castle Square and Theatre Square are always full of life, making Śródmieście a wonderful place to discover.
Education
Śródmieście, the central district of Warsaw, is home to many important schools and universities. Some of the most well-known include the University of Warsaw, Warsaw University of Technology, and the Chopin University of Music. There are also special schools for music, drama, and art, such as the Collegium Civitas, WSB University, Warsaw, Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art, and the Academy of Fine Arts. One of the top high schools in the area is the Stefan Batory High School.
