Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience
138 East 50th Street, officially named The Centrale, is a special home building in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It is located between Third Avenue and Lexington Avenue. The building has 124 homes called condominiums and space for shops on the first floor.
People who built the tower hoped to sell all the homes for $535.7 million. That means each home would be worth about $4.3 million on average. The building is a big part of the city's skyline and shows how some people live in busy cities.
History
Extell Development Company bought the land in January 2012 for $61 million and later sold it to Ceruzzi Properties in August 2014. At first, plans showed it would be a tall hotel with many rooms, but later it was changed to a very tall building with many homes inside. Building started in mid-2016 and finished in early 2019.
