Alessandra Perilli

Alessandra Perilli was born on 1 April 1988. She is a professional target shooter from Italy who represents San Marino in international competitions.

Perilli made history for San Marino by winning the country's first ever Olympic medal. She earned a bronze medal in Women's Trap at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Her achievement showed great skill and brought pride to her nation.

Biography

Alessandra Perilli was born in Rimini. Her father, Claudio Perilli, was a trap shooter for the Italian national team, and her mother is from San Marino. She has a sister, Arianna Perilli, who also competed for Italy in trap shooting. Alessandra began shooting in 2001, thanks to her father introducing her to the sport. In 2009, she started competing for San Marino through her mother.

She won a silver medal at the 2009 Mediterranean Games in Pescara and later won the women’s trap competition at the ISSF World Cup in 2011. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she finished fourth in the women’s trap, becoming the first Sanmarinese athlete to place fourth or higher. She took a break from shooting between 2013 and 2014 after having her son.

Alessandra competed again in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro but did not make the finals. She was the flag bearer for San Marino during the opening ceremony. At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, she made history by winning a bronze medal in the women’s trap, becoming San Marino’s first ever Olympic medalist. Shortly after, she won a silver medal in the mixed team trap event with Gian Marco Berti. Her achievements made San Marino the smallest country ever to win an Olympic medal.
