Allaire Corporation

Allaire Corporation was an American computer software company. It was started by brothers Jeremy and JJ Allaire in Minnesota in May 1995. The company later moved its main office to Cambridge and then to Newton, Massachusetts.

Allaire Corporation is most famous for making ColdFusion, a special tool that helped people build websites quickly. This tool let developers create websites that could connect to databases using a simple set of tags.

In January 1999, the company had its initial public offering on NASDAQ, with the ticker symbol ALLR. A few years later, in early 2001, another company called Macromedia bought Allaire Corporation for about $360 million.

History

Allaire created a tool called ColdFusion in 1995. This tool helped people build websites that could change based on information stored in databases. It used a special way of writing code that was easier for developers to understand.

The company also made other tools to help build websites and later bought another company that made software for running Java programs. In 2001, a bigger company called Macromedia bought Allaire. Later, in 2005, Adobe bought Macromedia, and ColdFusion became part of Adobe's products.
