Legal issues
2013 discrimination settlement
In December 2013, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and United States Department of Justice found that Ally Financial had treated some borrowers unfairly. The company had to pay money because many minority borrowers paid more for car loans between April 2011 and December 2013. This happened because the company let car dealers add extra charges to the loan prices, which was not fair to everyone. The company changed its ways after this.
