Archery at the 1992 Summer Olympics

At the 1992 Summer Olympics, archery returned with some exciting new changes. There were four different archery competitions this time, and the way the events worked was completely different from before. For the first time, all archery took place at a distance of 70 metres.

All archers started with a ranking round where they shot 144 arrows. These scores helped decide who would compete in the main tournaments. The top 32 archers in both men’s and women’s events moved on to a single-elimination tournament called the “Olympic round.” Teams were also formed from the best three archers from each country, and the top 16 teams in each group also competed in their own single-elimination tournaments.

In each competition, the winners of the semifinals faced each other for the gold and silver medals, while the losers of the semifinals competed for the bronze medal and fourth place. The other rankings were decided based on how archers and teams did in the rounds where they were defeated. This made every match important and added a lot of excitement to the Olympic archery events.

Participating nations

In the 1992 Summer Olympics, archery saw participants from 44 different nations. Countries such as Australia, Belgium, Bhutan, and Brazil joined many others to compete in this sport. Each nation brought a small team of archers to take part in the events.
