Balnibarbi (trilobite)

Balnibarbi was a group of tiny sea creatures called trilobites that lived long ago. These trilobites belonged to a family called Olenidae and their fossils have been found in Norway. They lived during a time called the Arenig stage, which was part of the Ordovician Period, about 479 to 472 million years ago.

Balnibarbi lived at the same time as another well-known trilobite called Cloacaspis, and they shared the same area.

The name Balnibarbi came from a fictional place in a book named Gulliver's Travels. This place was said to be home to unusual wise people who loved to study nature.

Scientists have identified several different kinds of Balnibarbi, including Balnibarbi ceryx, Balnibarbi erugata, Balnibarbi pulvurea, Balnibarbi scimitar, Balnibarbi sombrero, and Balnibarbi tholia.
