Batu (Kuala Lumpur federal constituency)

Batu is a special voting area in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It has been sending a representative to the Dewan Rakyat, the main part of Malaysia's parliament, since 1986.

This area was set up as a voting place in 1984. People in Batu choose one member to represent them in the Dewan Rakyat using a voting system called "first past the post," where the candidate with the most votes wins.

Demographics

The Batu area in Kuala Lumpur has people from many different backgrounds. As of 2022, most of the voters were Malay at 44.1%, followed by Chinese at 34.5%, Indian at 18.2%, and other groups making up the rest.

People of different ages live in Batu. The largest age group was 21-29 years old at 20.4%, followed by 30-39 years old at 22.9%. There were almost equal numbers of males and females voting, with males at 49.8% and females at 50.2%.
