Boninite

Boninite is a special kind of rock that comes from deep within the Earth. It is found where the Earth's plates push together, called a subduction zone, and is often seen in areas like the Izu-Bonin arc near Japan. This rock has a lot of magnesium and silica, which are important minerals.
Boninite forms when the Earth's mantle melts in a special way. It is different from other rocks because it has very little of some rare elements but more of others that can move easily. Scientists think this rock helps us understand how the Earth looked a very long time ago.
Similar rocks from even earlier times, called sanukitoids, have been found in very old parts of the Earth's crust. These rocks give clues about how the planet formed and changed over millions of years.

Boninite is made up of small crystals of pyroxenes and olivine in a glassy material. These parts fit together to form this special kind of rock.
Geochemistry
Boninite is a special kind of rock that contains a lot of magnesium, more than 8% in fact. It also has very little titanium. This rock is usually found in places where tectonic plates are moving under each other, called fore-arc environments.
