Central Athens (regional unit)

Central Athens (Greek: Κεντρικός Τομέας Αθηνών) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is located in the heart of the country and is part of the larger region known as Attica. This area includes the very center of the busy city of Athens, where many important buildings, schools, and places to visit are found.

The regional unit covers the central part of the big group of neighborhoods called Greater Athens. This makes it a key spot for anyone interested in learning about modern Greek life and history. Many people live, work, and study here, and it is a lively part of the country's capital.

Administration

In 2011, Greece made some changes to how it organizes its government areas. Because of these changes, the area called Central Athens was created from part of an older area named Athens Prefecture.

Today, Central Athens is divided into 8 smaller parts, called municipalities. These are:
