History

Changping has a long history dating back to the Han dynasty, when it was known as Changping County and Jundu County. Over time, its status changed. During the Northern Wei period, Changping was part of Jundu, but this reversed in the Eastern Wei era. In the Ming dynasty, under the rule of Zhengde, Changping became a subprefecture and controlled areas such as Miyun, Shunyi, and Huairou. By the Qing dynasty, during the Yongzheng era, these areas moved to Shuntian Prefecture. After the Xinhai Revolution, Changping became a county again and was transferred to Beijing from Hebei in 1956.
