Durga Temple of Virginia

The Durga Temple of Virginia is a special place for people who follow the Hindu religion. It is found in Lorton, Virginia, and helps many Hindus living in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area. This temple is very important to the Hindu community there. In 2010, about 6500 Hindus in Fairfax County used this temple for their religious activities and to gather together. The temple is a beautiful example of Hindu culture and traditions in America.
History
In 1991, The Durga Temple started as a place for Hindu people in Northern Virginia to gather. In 1996, they began building the temple, using money borrowed from a bank. A special ceremony called Bhoomi Pooja marked the start of construction in October 1996. The temple was finished on March 21, 1999. The temple has held events to teach people about Hinduism and its history. It also offers classes on Indian culture and spirituality, as well as a Boy Scouts program.
