Faranah

Faranah (N’ko: ߝߙߊߣߊ߫߫) is a town and sub-prefecture in central Guinea, lying by the River Niger. It is an important place in the region, known for its location along one of West Africa's major rivers.
As of 2014, Faranah was home to 78,108 people. The town is mainly inhabited by the Malinke people, one of the largest ethnic groups in the area. This makes Faranah a place where rich cultural traditions and history come together.
History
Sékou Touré was born in what was then a small village. After he became president, he helped build important places there, like a mosque, a palace, and a conference centre. The town is close to Haut Niger National Park and has its own airport called Faranah Airport.
Climate
Faranah has a tropical savanna climate. This means the town experiences warm temperatures and a distinct wet season, typical of areas near large rivers like the River Niger.
Mining
Faranah is close to big areas of iron ore, which is a type of rock that can be used to make steel.
Notable residents
One well-known person from Faranah is Sayon Camara, who comes from Dinguiraye and is a singer from Guinea.
