Giuseppe Sala (politician)

Giuseppe "Beppe" Sala (born 28 May 1958) is an Italian manager and politician. He is currently the mayor of Milan. From 2010 to 2015, he was the CEO of Expo 2015 in Milan.
Sala became mayor of Milan in 2016 with support from the centre-left coalition. He was re-elected for a second term in the 2021 municipal election.

In 2015, Milan hosted a big event called the Universal Exposition. The event focused on technology, new ideas, culture, and food from many places. Over 145 countries and many groups took part. In June 2010, Giuseppe Sala became the leader of this event, and people started calling him "Mr. Expo."
When the Expo opened on May 1, 2015, some people protested, which caused trouble. The police had to manage the situation. There were also some disagreements about the Expo, with Pope Francis saying that too much money was spent on it.
Mayor of Milan (2016โpresent)
In March 2015, the mayor of Milan decided not to run for another term. The city then held an election to choose a new mayor. Giuseppe Sala joined three others as candidates. The election happened in February 2016, and Sala won with support from many voters.
Sala became the mayor of Milan in June 2016 after another voting round. He continued to serve as mayor and ran again in 2021. He won a second term with support from almost 60% of the people who voted.

Giuseppe Sala works with the EAT Foundation as a member of their Advisory Board.
