The Governor of the Santiago Metropolitan Region is an important leader chosen by the people to help run the Santiago Metropolitan Region in Chile. History

In 2017, changes to Chile's rules allowed people to vote for leaders of regional governments. This created the job of Regional Governor and a representative for the President of Chile in each region.

The first elections for regional governors in Chile happened on May 15 and 16, 2021. The people who were elected started their jobs on July 14, 2021. Claudio Orrego, a former minister, won the election for the Santiago Metropolitan Region and became the first Regional Governor. He was reelected for another term on November 24, 2024.
