Himmelgeist is a small area near the city of Düsseldorf. It is part of what is called Borough 9. This place has a long history, starting from a village that was first written about in the year 904. Today, it covers an area of 4.46 km2 and is home to about 2,067 people.

The land around Himmelgeist is mostly used for farming, and it sits close to the river Rhine. This river has caused problems for the people living there over many years. Himmelgeist touches two other nearby areas, called Flehe and Itter, and it covers a space of 1.72 square miles.
