Holikachuk
Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience
Holikachuk (also called Innoko, Organized Village of Grayling, Innoka-khotana, Tlëgon-khotana) are a Yupikized Alaska Native Athabaskan people who belong to the Athabaskan-speaking group in western Alaska. They originally lived around the middle and upper parts of the Innoko River, but in 1963, they moved to Grayling on the Yukon River.
The Holikachuk call themselves Doogh Hit’an. The name Holikachuk comes from the name of a village in their original homeland, spoken in the Holikachuk language.
Not many scientists have studied the Holikachuk, so there isn't much written about them. Sometimes, they were incorrectly grouped with the Koyukon people.
The Holikachuk have neighbors including the Yup'ik and Koyukon to the north, the Koyukon to the east, the Upper Kuskokwim people to the south, and the Deg Hit'an to the west. Their culture is similar to that of the Deg Hit'an.
