History
The Hopscotch Music Festival started in 2010, created by Greg Lowenhagen and Grayson Currin while they worked at a local newspaper. In 2015, the festival was sold to a new group of owners.
The very first festival happened from September 9 to 11, 2010. It had 130 bands playing in 10 different places.
The festival grew each year. By 2011, it had 150 bands in 13 venues, and by 2012, it featured 175 bands across 15 venues. The festival continued to grow, with around 140 to 175 bands each year, showing a wide mix of music styles like rock, hip-hop, metal, folk, electronic, and more.
Each year brought new artists and exciting performances, making Hopscotch a favorite event for music lovers in Raleigh and beyond.
