Idiosepius thailandicus

Adapted from Wikipedia ยท Discoverer experience

Idiosepius thailandicus, also known as the thai pygmy squid, is a species of bobtail squid native to the Indo-Pacific waters off Thailand. These tiny squids are among the smallest in the world, with females growing to about 10 mm and males even smaller, not exceeding 7 mm.

Scientists first discovered this species in the Gulf of Thailand, and it has been found living close to the shore in places like seaweed areas and mangrove habitats. In these homes, the squids stick their eggs to objects like mangrove roots or the underside of seagrass leaves using a special glue gland on their bodies.

The exact range of Idiosepius thailandicus is still not fully known, but they may live as far south as Indonesia and north to Japan. However, because their habitat includes seagrass beds that are often damaged by human activities, there are concerns about their future. The IUCN currently lists this squid as Data Deficient since not enough is known about how many there are or how their numbers are changing.
