Justin Kripps (born January 6, 1987) is a retired Canadian bobsledder. He became an Olympic champion when he won a gold medal in the two-man bobsleigh event at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. This exciting victory made him one of Canada's top athletes in the sport.

Before his Olympic win, Kripps had already achieved great success. He won a silver medal in the two-man event at the 2017 World Championships and a bronze medal in the mixed team event at the 2012 World Championships. He has been competing in bobsleigh since 2006 and has reached the top positions in many World Cup races.

During the 2017–18 Bobsleigh World Cup, Justin Kripps did very well. He finished first in the two-man event and also won the overall championship for the season, earning the Crystal Globe as the top athlete. His skills and determination helped him become a celebrated figure in winter sports.

Career

Justin Kripps began his bobsledding career in 2006 at age 19. Before that, he competed in athletics at Simon Fraser University. He joined bobsledding because he thought it was a mix of track and field and race car driving.

Kripps first won a race in the men's four-man event in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, in 2008. He and his teammate Pierre Lueders were the first to slide down the Whistler Sliding Centre in British Columbia in 2007. They both competed in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

After the 2010 Olympics, Kripps decided to become a driver. He attended pilot school in the summer of 2010 and competed in various events over the next few years. In 2012, he won a bronze medal in the mixed team event at the FIBT World Championships.

Kripps won his first gold medal as a driver in 2014 at Königssee. At the 2017 World Championships, he won a silver medal. Then, at the 2018 Winter Olympics, Kripps and his teammate Alexander Kopacz tied for the gold medal in the two-man event. In 2022, Kripps won a bronze medal in the Four-man event before retiring from the sport later that year.
