KOBR-TV Tower

The KOBR-TV Tower (also called KSWS-TV Tower) is a very tall structure that helps send television signals. It is located in Caprock, New Mexico and stands 490.7 metres (1,610 feet) high. This tower was built in 1960 to support the antenna for the KOBR television station.
Before this tower was built, there was another tower called the KSWS-TV Tower, which was also 1,610 feet tall. That original tower was built in December 1956 and was once the tallest structure in the world. It held this record until a new tower in Maine, called the WGME-TV Tower, was completed in September 1959.
Sadly, the first tower fell down during a strong wind or an ice storm in 1960. After that, the current KOBR-TV Tower was built to take its place and continue providing television service to the area.
