KTAL TV Tower

The KTAL TV-FM Tower, also known as the Nexstar Broadcasting Tower Vivian, is a very tall structure used for sending television signals. Standing at 1,558 feet, it was built in 1961 and was once the tallest structure in Louisiana and the fourth tallest in the whole world. It is located near Vivian, Louisiana.

Besides KTAL-TV, the tower also carries the radio station KTAL-FM, known as “98 Rocks.” Both stations are licensed to Texarkana, Texas. The tower was originally built by Clyde E. Palmer, who also owned the Texarkana Gazette. Over time, the stations were sold to different companies, with the TV station going to Nexstar Broadcasting Group and the radio station to Access.1 Louisiana Holding Company.
