The Kuala Selangor Municipal Council, also known as Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Selangor, is the group that helps take care of the town of Kuala Selangor. This council makes sure the town stays clean, safe, and well-organized.

It is part of the bigger Selangor state government, which means it follows rules and guidelines set by the leaders of Selangor. The council works on many jobs, like keeping streets tidy, managing public places, and helping people in the community.

History

The Kuala Selangor District Council began in 1978 under a law called Selangor State Law Handbill 18/78. It brings together five local councils: Kuala Selangor Local Council, Tanjong Karang Local Council, Batang Berjuntai (Bestari Jaya) Local Council, Ijok Local Council, and Jeram Local Council.

Administration

As of 15 December 2021, the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council had several important leaders in charge of different areas. These included the President, Secretary, and heads of various departments such as Treasury, Engineering, Property Valuation, Licensing, Health and Environment, Community Development, Management Services, Enforcement, Landscape, Building Control, Planning and Development, Local Central Unit, Legal Unit, Materials Procurement and Surveying, Tourism, Corporate and Public Relations, Information Technology, Internal Audit, Building Commissioner, and ICT Security Officer. Each of these leaders played a key role in managing and supporting the community of Kuala Selangor.

Legislation

The Kuala Selangor Municipal Council follows many important laws to keep the town running smoothly. These laws come in different forms, such as Acts, Encantments, Bylaws, and Rules.

Some key Acts include laws about local government, roads, town planning, and building maintenance. There are also Encantments, which are special rules for the state, covering topics like entertainment venues, controlling cows and buffaloes, and freedom of information.

Bylaws are smaller rules made specifically for Kuala Selangor. These cover many everyday matters, like collecting trash, food safety, market operations, and even rules about dogs and private car parks.

There are also Rules and Orders to guide how workers behave and how meetings are organized within the council. All these laws help make sure the town is clean, safe, and well-managed.
