The land where Lakeview now stands was bought in 1904 by a company called McCallum Hill & Co. Later, in 1911, the City of Regina took control of the land and divided it into homes, making Lakeview one of the city's nicest places to live.

Lakeview has many special features, including beautiful old houses, tall elm trees, and several parks like Les Sherman Park, Kiwanis Waterfall Park, Kinsmen Park, and Lakeview Park. It is also close to Wascana Centre, Wascana Creek, and the grand Saskatchewan Legislative Building. One famous sight in Lakeview is the Albert Memorial Bridge, which is the world's longest bridge over a very short stretch of water. The neighborhood is also home to Lakeview Elementary School, the oldest school in Regina, built in 1922.
