History
The Georgian police started an emergency dispatch service using the number 022 in 2004. By 2017, people could also call 112 to reach the emergency dispatch.

Restructuring
In the mid-2000s, the police in Georgia went through big changes. In 2005, the president fired many traffic police because of problems with unfair behavior. A new police force was created with fresh recruits. Help came from the United States for training.
The new police, called Patruli, started in the summer of 2005. Officers got new cars and uniforms, and they were given new tools for their work. Training programs continued to help police officers learn better ways to do their jobs.
