Lesotho at the 2008 Summer Olympics

Lesotho sent athletes to the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. The country was represented by its Lesotho National Olympic Committee.

Five athletes from Lesotho took part in the games. Four of them were men, and one was a woman. They competed in two sports: athletics and boxing.

Background

Lesotho first joined the Olympic Games at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany. They could not attend the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, but they have been in every game since the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, Soviet Union. The 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China was their ninth time joining the Summer Olympics.

Athletics

Four athletes from Lesotho took part in the athletics events. Moses Mosuhli, Tsotang Maine, and Clement Lebopo ran in the men's marathon, while Mamorallo Tjoka ran in the women's marathon. The races happened at the Beijing National Stadium in Chaoyang, Beijing, between August 15 and 24, 2008.

Unfortunately, none of the athletes finished their races. Mosuhli, Maine, and Lebopo did not complete the men's marathon on August 24, and Tjoka did not finish the women's marathon on August 17.

Boxing

One athlete from Lesotho, Emanuel Thabiso Nketu, competed in boxing at the 2008 Summer Olympics. He was in the bantamweight category and fought his first match on August 12, 2008. Nketu faced Bruno Julie from Mauritius and did not win that match. The boxing events happened at the Workers' Gymnasium in Chaoyang, Beijing, between August 9 and August 24, 2008.
