Liechtenstein took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. The Liechtenstein Olympic Committee chose two athletes to compete in two different sports. Marcel Tschopp represented Liechtenstein in athletics, and Oliver Geissmann competed in shooting events. Sadly, a third athlete, tennis player Stephanie Vogt, had to drop out because of an injury.
Tschopp ran the marathon and finished in 74th place. Geissmann competed in the men’s 10-meter air rifle but did not move past the preliminary round. It was a small but proud showing for Liechtenstein at the Olympics.
