List of regions of Hungary
Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience
Hungary has eight statistical regions, which help organize its 19 counties and the capital city. These regions were created in 1999, but in 2018, Budapest became its own separate region instead of being part of Central Hungary. Each region includes several counties, such as Northern Hungary with Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Heves, and Nógrád, and Central Hungary with just Pest county. The regions include Northern Hungary, Northern Great Plain, Southern Great Plain, Central Hungary, Budapest, Central Transdanubia, Western Transdanubia, and Southern Transdanubia, each covering specific areas of the country. Euroregions
Hungary is part of several groups called euroregions. These include the Carpathian Euroregion, which covers counties like Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén and Heves. Other euroregions are West Pannonia, covering Győr-Moson-Sopron and Vas, and Danube-Drava-Sava, which includes Baranya. The Danube-Kris-Mures-Tisza euroregion includes counties such as Bács-Kiskun and Békés. Finally, the Ister-Granum Euroregion includes Komárom-Esztergom and Nógrád.
Counties may only roughly match these euroregions, so there can be some overlap.
