Lyrapyge
Adapted from Wikipedia ยท Discoverer experience
Lyrapyge is an extinct group of ancient sea creatures called trilobites. These small, hard-shelled animals lived in the oceans millions of years ago. They belonged to a bigger class of fossil marine arthropods, which means they were related to modern crabs, spiders, and insects.
Lyrapyge existed during a time called the Arenig stage of the Ordovician Period, which was about 478 to 471 million years ago. Like other trilobites, they had segmented bodies and were important parts of the early ocean ecosystems. Studying these fossils helps scientists understand how life developed in the seas long before dinosaurs ever appeared.
