The Naval Network Warfare Command (NAVNETWARCOM) is a special part of the United States Navy. It focuses on important tasks like information operations, intelligence, and managing networks and space activities. This unit helps protect and control the Navy’s communication systems.

NAVNETWARCOM works under the Commander of the TENTH Fleet. Its main job is to manage the Navy’s networks during operations. It also uses space capabilities to support both Navy and joint military operations. This ensures that Navy forces can communicate and operate effectively, no matter where they are in the world.

History

In 2002, several groups from different Navy commands joined together to create the Naval Network Warfare Command. This new group focused on running and protecting the Navy's networks.

By 2005, more groups joined, changing the command's mission to lead Information Operations, Networks, and Space for the Navy. In 2009, the Secretary of Defense started the U.S. Cyber Command, and the Naval Network Warfare Command was reorganized to better protect and operate the Navy's networks. The command's headquarters is located at Navy Cyber Forces in Norfolk, Virginia.
