In the Nordic combined event at the 1964 Winter Olympics, athletes took part in three ski jumps on a normal hill. Their lowest jump score was dropped, and they then raced a 15-kilometre cross-country course. The scores from both the jumps and the race were added together, and the athlete with the highest total points won a gold medal.
